Introducing Dough: Recipe Intelligence for Food Creators
If you’re a food blogger, recipe developer, or cooking influencer using Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to grow your audience, you know the friction. You write incredible recipes, photograph them beautifully, and then… you paste a link into an email and hope someone clicks. Your best work lives on your blog, separated from your subscribers by a click they might never make.
We built Dough to close that gap.
The problem with recipe emails today
Most food creators treat email as a distribution channel for their blog. Write a recipe, publish it, then email your list with a teaser and a link. The recipe lives on your website. The subscriber has to leave their inbox to see it.
This creates two problems. First, email engagement drops every time you ask someone to click away. Open rates might be strong, but click-through rates tell the real story: most of your subscribers never see the recipe. Second, you have no idea which recipes resonate with which subscribers. You’re sending the same content to everyone, whether they eat vegan, keto, or anything that moves.
What Dough does differently
Dough connects to your Kit account and adds a recipe intelligence layer that food creators have been missing.
Import from anywhere. Paste a URL, upload a screenshot, or share a link from Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube. Our AI extracts structured recipe data — ingredients, instructions, timing, nutrition, dietary tags — and adds it to your searchable library.
Recipe cards in emails. Our Kit editor plugin lets you search your recipe library and insert beautiful recipe cards directly into your broadcasts. The cards render in every email client using pure HTML tables. No images to host, no broken layouts, no click required to see the recipe.
Smart segmentation. When subscribers interact with your recipes — saving them, clicking on them, purchasing products featuring them — Dough automatically tags them with dietary preferences. Over time, you build detailed preference profiles without ever asking subscribers to fill out a survey.
Digital products. Select recipes from your library and generate ebooks, meal plans, or printable recipe card packs in minutes. Sell them through Kit Commerce or use them as lead magnets.
Why Kit?
We chose to build on Kit because it’s where the best food creators already live. Kit’s automation engine, commerce tools, and subscriber management are excellent. What Kit doesn’t have is food-native functionality. That’s what Dough adds.
Dough doesn’t replace Kit. It doesn’t send emails or process payments. It makes Kit smarter about food content, and it gives you the tools to turn your recipe expertise into a real business.
